MATH TUTORING
I have a degree in Psychology and Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Not only do I have a passion for teaching math, but I also like to apply real-life approaches and strategies to math.
Common Core, although it receives some backlash from learners, is actually a great approach to learning math. Back when I was younger, we were taught to memorize addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Now, students can learn precisely why they take the steps they take to solve a problem.

WRITING TUTORING
"A major life skill is to persuade by writing."
Curriculum:
I believe one of my responsibilities is to help even my youngest students lay a solid foundation for the various standardized tests that are coming up. I use Common Core Standards and use thought-provoking non-fiction newspaper and magazine articles to teach students how to summarize and think critically about what they have read. We will work on classic and contemporary short stories and novels to teach students about characters, themes, and literary devices. There are various styles of writing that we will incorporate, including literary response, descriptive, narrative, expository, and persuasive/argumentative essays. I teach targeted grammar lessons aimed at improving students’ clarity, diction, and sentence structure. If time permits, I require all of my students to study weekly vocabulary lists. In order to succeed in my class, I require that homework is done each week. There is no magic pill to having excellent writing skills- homework outside of class must be done.
SCIENCE TUTORING
I almost went to medical school for my love of science and technology. It is so important to me that kids learn the foundations of science according to state standards and expand their knowledge to innovation that is released every day.Â
